Worship Leaves Early Access and Launches on PS5 November 4

September 19, 2026·3 min read

Worship will leave Early Access on November 4, 2026, with version 1.0 launching on Steam and PS5 on the same day.

The launch will give Chasing Rats Games' Pikmin-inspired roguelike its first console release after more than a year in Early Access. An additional console release is targeted for 2027, although the developer has not announced the platform.

Version 1.0 adds Worship's final area and permanent progression

The full release will add the Cabal Marshlands, Worship's third and final area, followed by a new Test of Faith called Mortals' Last Stand. Chasing Rats Games has also confirmed new enemies, encounters, rituals, and upgrades for version 1.0.

Worship revolves around building a cult, commanding groups of followers, and drawing blood symbols to perform rituals while serving one of several eldritch gods. The 1.0 update will expand progression through Eldritch Prophecies, a system of challenges and objectives that unlock permanent upgrades, additional content for later runs, cosmetics, lore entries, and bestiary information. Some rewards can also increase the number of followers available at the start of future runs.

Three new God Aspects are also planned for the full release. Rather than introducing entirely separate deities, each Aspect represents a different form of an existing god, with its own playstyle, upgrades, starting building, and follower cap.

Chasing Rats Games has also released The End is Nigh, a final pre-launch update for the Early Access version. It introduces gameplay changes including the new follower-cap system, alongside balance adjustments and bug fixes, while the new area and other major content remain reserved for version 1.0.

PS5 arrives with the full release

The November launch will bring the PS5 version out alongside the completed Steam release. Chasing Rats Games had previously said that console ports were in development, but had not confirmed which system would arrive with version 1.0.

The studio originally planned to reveal another console version at the same time as PS5, but said discussions with another partner are still ongoing. That release is currently targeted for 2027, with the platform and more specific timing still unannounced.

Multiplayer will not return for version 1.0

Multiplayer will not be part of Worship's full launch. Chasing Rats Games previously removed the feature after encountering problems with its networking technology and decided to focus development on completing the single-player game instead.

The studio said rewriting the netcode would have required an estimated six to eight months of work from its technical team, while its remaining resources were being focused on the final area, final boss, progression systems, console ports, and other work needed to complete the release.

Multiplayer could still be revisited after launch, but Chasing Rats Games has not committed to bringing it back.
