Nintendo Switch Sports is a collection of motion-controlled sports played in Spocco Square. Players use Joy-Con controllers to compete in Basketball, Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and Chambara swordplay. Each sport translates physical movements into actions such as swinging a racket, rolling a bowling ball, serving a volleyball or striking an opponent with a sword. Soccer also supports the Leg Strap accessory for kicking motions. The different sports include solo, team and head-to-head formats, with rules and controls designed around short matches that can be played locally or online. Local multiplayer lets friends and family compete on the same Nintendo Switch, while online play supports matches against other players in every sport. Some activities include larger formats, such as 16-player Survival Bowling and eight-player Survival Golf, while Basketball includes two-on-two games and a Three-Point Challenge. Online matches award points that can be redeemed for cosmetic items including clothing, equipment and accessories for the player’s Sportsmate avatar. Competitive players can also progress through Pro League rankings in individual sports.
