01Overview

No Man's Sky is an action-adventure survival game developed by Hello Games, set in a procedurally generated universe containing over 18 quintillion planets. Players explore star systems, discover planets and alien life, gather resources, trade with alien species, and upgrade their equipment, starships and technology while following an overarching narrative involving the mysterious Atlas. The game is built around four main pillars: exploration, survival, combat and trading. Players can travel freely between planets and space, establish bases, manage freighters and fleets, complete missions, encounter other travellers and take part in multiplayer activities. Different planets feature their own landscapes, climates, creatures and resources, while hazardous environments and hostile Sentinels can make exploration dangerous. Base building also allows players to establish everything from small planetary outposts to larger colonies. Since its 2016 launch, No Man's Sky has received a long series of free updates that have substantially expanded the original game with multiplayer, base building, fleet management, Expeditions, virtual reality support, new worlds, additional stories and new gameplay systems. Hello Games continues to expand the universe with major updates and new ways to play.
