01Overview
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action game developed by Capcom and set in a dark fantasy version of Edo-period Kyoto. Players control a samurai armed with the Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants the power needed to fight creatures known as Genma. Combat focuses on intense swordplay, with players cutting through supernatural enemies while exploring streets, temples and other areas twisted by a mysterious force called Malice. Battles emphasize close-range attacks and precise timing against increasingly dangerous opponents. As the samurai travels deeper into Kyoto, he encounters new threats and uncovers more about the Genma invasion. The story follows his search for purpose while combining historical Japanese locations with supernatural horror and the series’ signature demon-slaying action.
