01Overview

Persona 5 is a turn-based JRPG with social simulation and visual novel elements. It follows a high school student sent to Tokyo on probation after being falsely accused of assault. Soon he meets several other teenagers who have suffered under corrupt adults and discovers the Metaverse, a supernatural realm shaped by distorted desires. Together they form the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and infiltrate Palaces belonging to corrupt individuals, stealing symbolic Treasures in an attempt to make their targets confess and change their behavior. Dungeon exploration combines stealth with turn-based battles against Shadows. Players exploit elemental weaknesses, use Personas with different skills, negotiate with enemies, and perform coordinated attacks after knocking opponents down. Outside the Metaverse, the protagonist attends school, works part-time jobs, improves personal attributes, and spends time with characters called Confidants. Strengthening these relationships unlocks additional abilities and benefits that can help during exploration and combat. The calendar system limits how much can be accomplished each day, requiring players to balance school life, relationships, preparation, and Phantom Thief activities.
