01Overview
Pokémon GO is an augmented reality mobile game that uses real-world location data to let players find, catch, train, and battle Pokémon while exploring their surroundings. Pokémon appear on the map as players move, while PokéStops provide items such as Poké Balls, Berries, and evolution materials. Gyms allow players to battle for control on behalf of one of three teams, and cooperative Raid Battles pit groups of Trainers against powerful Pokémon. Players can also hatch Eggs, trade Pokémon, complete Research tasks, battle Team GO Rocket, and follow community-created Routes that connect real-world locations. Collected Pokémon can be powered up and evolved using Candy and Stardust before being used in Gyms, Raids, Max Battles, or Trainer Battles. The GO Battle League provides structured player-versus-player competition across different leagues and rotating cups. Party Play allows nearby players to form groups and complete challenges together, while the Buddy system rewards walking and interacting with a chosen Pokémon. Pokémon GO is free-to-play with optional in-app purchases and continues to add Pokémon, activities, and gameplay systems through regular updates.
