Pokémon UNITE is a 5-on-5 strategic team battle game where players compete on Aeos Island to score more points than the opposing team before time runs out. Each player controls one Pokémon, defeats wild Pokémon to gain experience and Aeos energy, and levels up during the match to unlock stronger moves and, for some characters, evolve into more powerful forms. Aeos energy is deposited in enemy goal zones to score points, while opposing players can interrupt scoring and defend their own side of the map. Playable Pokémon are divided into roles including Attacker, Defender, Speedster, Supporter, and All-Rounder, with team composition affecting how lanes, objectives, and fights are handled. Major wild Pokémon can provide temporary advantages or help a team push toward enemy goals. Players choose moves as they level, allowing the same Pokémon to use different ability combinations between matches. Ranked play provides a competitive ladder, while Standard and Quick Battles offer more casual formats. Held Items and Battle Items provide additional customization before a match begins.
