01Overview
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a third-person action-adventure game set in a mythical version of ancient Persia. After being manipulated into releasing the Sands of Time, the Prince must travel through a cursed palace and undo the disaster he helped cause. Players navigate environments using acrobatic movements including wall-running, climbing, swinging from poles and jumping across gaps while solving environmental puzzles and fighting creatures transformed by the Sands. The Prince is accompanied by Princess Farah, who assists during parts of the journey and plays an important role in the story. The Dagger of Time gives the Prince control over time during both combat and exploration. Players can rewind several seconds to recover from missed jumps, avoid death or correct mistakes, while other powers can slow or freeze enemies. Combat combines sword attacks, evasive movement and acrobatics, with defeated enemies requiring the Dagger to absorb their sand. Progress through the palace alternates between platforming, puzzles and battles as the Prince works toward containing the Sands and confronting the Vizier responsible for their release.
