Resident Evil Veronica is a survival horror remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, originally released for Dreamcast in 2000 and expanded for PlayStation 2 the following year. Set three months after the Raccoon City disaster, the story returns Claire Redfield to the lead as she travels to France in search of her missing brother, Chris. Umbrella’s special forces capture her before the siblings can reunite and transport her to Rockfort Island, a remote prison facility overtaken by another biological outbreak. Claire must explore the island, survive its infected inhabitants, and uncover the events behind the disaster while looking for a way to escape. The remake preserves the original game’s survival horror foundation, including its focus on exploration and limited resources, but introduces modernized gameplay, a reimagined version of the story, and more detailed environments and character models. It remains a single-player experience and is being rebuilt as a new interpretation rather than a visual remaster.
