01Overview
Silent Hill f is a survival horror game published by Konami as part of the Silent Hill series. Set in rural Japan during the 1960s, it marks the first main entry in the franchise to use Japan as its setting. The story follows high school student Hinako Shimizu, whose secluded hometown of Ebisugaoka is suddenly consumed by a mysterious fog and transformed into a nightmarish place filled with grotesque creatures and disturbing phenomena. Players guide Hinako through the town as she explores its changing environments, solves puzzles and fights to survive against the horrors surrounding her. The story is written by Ryukishi07, known for Higurashi When They Cry and Umineko When They Cry, and focuses heavily on psychological horror, social expectations, personal conflict and difficult choices. Silent Hill f combines the series' familiar themes of fear and psychological trauma with imagery rooted in Japanese culture and a distinctive concept of finding beauty within terror. Creature and character designs by kera reinforce that contrast, while music from composers including Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage helps shape the game's unsettling atmosphere.
