Split Fiction is a cooperative action-adventure game about two writers, Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who become trapped inside a machine designed to steal their creative ideas. Mio writes science fiction while Zoe prefers fantasy, and the pair must work together to escape a simulation built from their own stories. Each level moves between very different settings and introduces new mechanics, abilities, and challenges. Gameplay combines platforming, puzzles, combat, stealth, vehicle sequences, and other short-lived systems that require both players to coordinate their actions. The entire adventure is designed specifically for two players and can be played through local split-screen or online co-op. Optional Side Stories lead into unfinished ideas from Mio and Zoe’s writing, providing additional self-contained scenarios and mechanics away from the main path. Split Fiction also supports cross-platform online play, while Friend’s Pass allows a second player to join the full game online without owning another copy. Progression is driven by moving through the story rather than collecting equipment or developing permanent character builds, with new abilities introduced as each fictional world changes.
