01Overview
Valor Mortis is a first-person action RPG set in an alternate version of 19th-century Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. Players control William, a soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who awakens after death to find the continent devastated by a mysterious plague. The same corruption spreading across Europe now flows through William, giving him supernatural abilities as he searches for the truth behind his resurrection. Players explore war-torn environments filled with plague-infected soldiers and monsters, using increased mobility to find hidden routes, shortcuts and secrets. Combat combines swords, firearms and supernatural powers from a first-person perspective. Players can parry attacks, dodge, perform finishers and use corrupted abilities to strengthen attacks or deal with different enemies. Weapons and powers can be upgraded as William becomes stronger after death, while exploration opens optional side quests and additional upgrades. Enemies include the mutated forces of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard, and the story mixes historical figures and locations with horror and supernatural elements as William investigates the plague and the conspiracy surrounding it.
