Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action RPG set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty, where warring factions and a mysterious illness called Feathering are transforming people into monstrous creatures. Players control Wuchang, a pirate warrior suffering from amnesia and the same disease, as she searches for answers about her past and the spreading affliction. Exploration leads through interconnected settlements, temples, ruins, forests, and underground areas filled with enemies, bosses, hidden routes, and characters whose stories can influence how the journey unfolds. Combat combines melee weapons, spells, weapon skills, and abilities powered by Skyborn Might. Well-timed dodges can generate Skyborn Might, which is then spent on powerful techniques and magic. Players develop Wuchang through branching skill trees and can adjust their build around different weapons and combat approaches. The Madness system adds another consideration, with rising Madness increasing both offensive power and the risks associated with taking damage and dying. Exploration, character progression, demanding boss encounters, and learning enemy attack patterns form the core of the experience.
