01Overview
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project, which retells the original RPG across three standalone games. Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII have escaped Midgar and now travel across the planet in pursuit of Sephiroth, the legendary SOLDIER connected to Cloud’s past. The journey moves through multiple open regions containing towns, wilderness, side quests, minigames, and optional objectives. Chocobos and other forms of transportation help the party reach new areas, while the story expands on characters and locations from the original Final Fantasy VII. Combat combines real-time action with strategic commands through the ATB system. Players can switch between party members during fights, use character-specific abilities, cast magic through Materia, and trigger Limit Breaks. Synergy Skills and Synergy Abilities allow two characters to perform coordinated attacks or defensive actions, with stronger techniques becoming available as their relationship develops. Character progression includes weapon abilities, Materia combinations, equipment, and Folios that unlock new skills. Exploration also provides side activities and regional objectives that reward equipment, Materia, and additional character interactions.
