01Overview
Final Fantasy VII Remake is an action RPG developed by Square Enix and a reimagining of the opening section of the original Final Fantasy VII. Players control Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER who joins the resistance group Avalanche in its fight against the Shinra Electric Power Company in the city of Midgar. Combat blends real-time attacks with the Active Time Battle system, allowing players to slow the action and select abilities, spells and items. Party members such as Barret, Tifa and Aerith have distinct combat styles and can be switched between during battles. The remake greatly expands Midgar with new characters, side quests and story sequences, while reworking major events from the original. Character upgrades, weapons and materia provide additional ways to customize each party member.
