01Overview
League of Legends is a fast-paced, competitive online game that blends elements of strategy games and RPGs. Two teams of five players each control powerful champions with unique abilities and playstyles, battling to destroy the opposing team’s Nexus. On Summoner’s Rift, players compete across three lanes and a jungle, killing minions, enemy champions, and neutral monsters to gain gold and experience. Gold is spent on items that strengthen a champion during the match, while leveling up unlocks and improves abilities. Teams also fight for major neutral objectives that provide advantages and help them push toward the enemy base. Players generally fill one of five positions: top, jungle, mid, bot, or support, with each position handling different parts of the map and team composition. Champion abilities, Summoner Spells, runes, and item builds further shape how each character plays. Alongside standard Summoner’s Rift matches, League of Legends includes ranked competition and ARAM, a 5v5 mode centered on a single lane with randomly assigned champions. Regular balance updates adjust champions, items, objectives, and other gameplay systems while preserving the core goal of coordinated team play and destroying the enemy Nexus.
