Alien: Isolation 2 Will Get a Physical Edition, Creative Assembly Confirms
Creative Assembly confirms a physical edition for Alien: Isolation 2, alongside new details about Photo Mode, smarter Xenomorph behavior and outdoor survival.
Creative Assembly has confirmed that Alien: Isolation 2 will receive a physical edition. The developer announced the decision on October 28, 2026, during a new Q&A covering the upcoming survival horror sequel.
The studio said the decision reflects its commitment to preserving the analogue identity of the Alien franchise. However, SEGA has not announced which platforms will receive physical copies, when preorders will open, or when the game will launch.
Creative Assembly confirms physical copies for Alien: Isolation 2

Creative Assembly addressed the physical-release question directly in its latest developer Q&A, confirming that the sequel will not be limited to digital distribution.
"Staying true to the analogue nature of Alien is one of our core pillars," the developer explained in an accompanying statement. The studio also confirmed that Alien: Isolation 2 will have a physical edition, continuing the approach taken with the original Alien: Isolation in 2014.
The announcement establishes plans for a boxed release, but several details remain unknown. Creative Assembly has not revealed whether the physical edition will include the complete game on disc or cartridge, or require additional downloads.
PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 versions are planned

SEGA previously confirmed that Alien: Isolation 2 is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
However, the physical-edition announcement does not specify which platforms will receive boxed copies. There is also no confirmation of whether the Switch 2 release will use a traditional cartridge or a game-key card.
The publisher has not announced regional availability, pricing, or preorder dates for the physical edition. A release date also remains unconfirmed. SEGA's official product information continues to list the game's launch date and price as undecided, despite speculation about a possible 2027 release.
Developer Q&A reveals Photo Mode and a more dangerous Xenomorph
Alongside the physical-edition announcement, Creative Assembly shared additional details about the sequel's gameplay and features. The Xenomorph will be more capable of hunting players across outdoor environments. The creature can use the harsh weather to conceal its movements and will adapt to the player's behavior and equipment.
The sequel takes place on a storm-ravaged colony world, where players will explore both the planet's surface and the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station. These environments expand the survival horror experience beyond the confined corridors of the original game.
Creative Assembly also confirmed that players will have more ways to distract the Xenomorph. Environmental objects can be thrown to divert its attention, creating additional opportunities to escape dangerous encounters.
Another confirmed feature is Photo Mode, which will include camera controls, placeable lighting, and visual filters inspired by the original Alien film. The studio has not announced when it will share further details about the physical edition or the game's release schedule.
