House House's next game is almost here, but Big Walk is not a release where players can jump into a random lobby and figure things out later. The co-op adventure is built around a familiar group staying together across several sessions, so the most useful launch preparation is deciding who is joining before the walk begins.
Big Walk releases on August 4 for Windows and Mac through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Steam and the US PlayStation countdown currently point to a 1:00 PM UTC unlock, which is 6:00 AM PT, 9:00 AM ET, 2:00 PM BST, 3:00 PM CEST, and 6:30 PM IST. Some regional console pages show different times, making the local store countdown the safest final check.

PlayStation Plus Essential members can claim the PS5 version as one of August's Monthly Games from launch day through August 31. Players on Steam and Switch 2 will need to buy their copy normally, while the PlayStation offer gives subscribers a simple way to join without making a separate purchase.
House House has not announced one preload schedule covering every platform. Players hoping to start at the unlock time should check their chosen store early, leave enough storage space, and expect some regional differences. Console listings can update close to release, especially when a game launches worldwide instead of following midnight in each country.
Crossplay connects the supported versions, so a group can include friends on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2 without everyone buying on the same system. There is no Xbox version at launch, and online play is required. PlayStation players will also need the subscription access normally required for online multiplayer.

Sessions support between two and 12 players, with the world adjusting for groups of two, three, or four and above. A smaller team should have more room to talk through puzzles, while a packed lobby will likely create the noisy confusion seen in previews, where friends wander off, misunderstand instructions, and turn simple jobs into arguments.
Public matchmaking is not included because Big Walk is designed as a long-form adventure played with the same people over several nights. Players must invite friends through their platform list or share a session code. Anyone planning to rely on strangers at launch will need to organise a group elsewhere before opening the game.
Communication shapes much of the adventure through proximity voice chat, walkie-talkies, gestures, megaphones, flares, binoculars, and other physical tools. Friends sound quieter as they move away and can become difficult to find after splitting up. A permanent voice call may be convenient, but it removes some of the confusion the puzzles are built around.
The host keeps the save file and must be present whenever the group wants to continue that playthrough. Giving the role to whoever loads the game first could create problems later if that person has a different schedule. A group expecting to finish the adventure should choose someone who can reliably return for each planned session.
Big Walk has a beginning, middle, and ending rather than an endless social world, although players can spend time exploring and messing around between puzzles. Preview estimates place a normal playthrough around 10 to 15 hours, which makes the host decision more important than it would be for disconnected party rounds.
Players can begin on August 4 without studying builds, collecting starter items, or racing through an opening tutorial. The practical work happens outside the game: confirm the local unlock time, agree on the main host, and make sure the same group can return. Without public matchmaking, an empty friends list is the only real launch barrier.
