Big Walk has become one of August's surprise hits, selling more than one million copies across all platforms in six days. House House's new co-op adventure does not rely on combat, classes, or endless progression. It asks groups to explore, talk, solve problems, and get lost together.
The game launched on August 4 for PS5, Switch 2, Windows PC, and macOS. PS5 players also received it through the August PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup, making it easy for groups to try without another purchase. The sales milestone covers every platform, not PlayStation alone.

House House and publisher Panic confirmed the milestone less than a week after launch. That is a strong result for a game built around exploring a strange open world. It is not focused on chasing upgrades or winning matches. The appeal comes from what happens when several friends try to solve simple problems together.
Steam added another sign that the launch had found a large audience. Big Walk reached 46,409 concurrent players on August 5 and quickly picked up a Very Positive user rating. Those numbers only cover Steam, but they show that the game also found plenty of paying players outside PS Plus.
Crossplay helps because friends do not need to own the same system. Sessions support 2 to 12 players, so the game can work well for small co-op groups. Larger groups can also join and make each session more chaotic. The larger the party gets, the harder communication can become.

Big Walk is built around proximity voice chat, so players cannot always hear everyone at full volume. Distance and walls can get in the way. Walkie-talkies, gestures, flares, laser pointers, and binoculars help groups find each other. Whiteboards and other tools also help players work together to solve puzzles.
That system turns ordinary mistakes into some of the game's best moments. One player can take the wrong path while another loses sight of the group. Suddenly, everyone may be shouting directions across the valley. The game leaves plenty of room for confusion, funny moments, and creative solutions.
House House has also kept the adventure focused instead of building another endless live-service game. Big Walk has a hand-crafted world and a defined ending., so groups can finish the journey together. There are no daily tasks pushing players back in.
The PS Plus launch gives PS5 owners a simple way to bring friends into the game. Subscribers can claim Big Walk during August and keep access while their membership remains active. The game is built around getting several people into one session. Not having an upfront cost makes it easier for players to join together.
That wider access does not explain the entire sales result, especially with strong Steam numbers and sales on other platforms. It gives Big Walk an advantage on PS5 because curious players can try the game first. They do not have to decide if the strange concept is worth buying before playing it.
The biggest early issue is linked to the feature that makes Big Walk work. House House has acknowledged that nearby voices can sometimes sound too quiet and says a fix is being worked on. Improving that system should make it easier for new groups to enjoy the game without fighting the audio.
