Control Resonant Targets 60 FPS on PS5 With Enhanced PS5 Pro Modes

September 17, 2026·3 min read

Remedy Entertainment has detailed the PlayStation graphics modes for Control Resonant ahead of its September 24 release, confirming that the sequel was designed around 60 FPS gameplay from the beginning.

Standard PS5 players will be able to choose between a 1440p Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS and a 2160p Quality Mode running at 30 FPS. PS5 Pro pushes the Performance Mode target to 2160p at 60 FPS and adds two ray-traced options, including a 40 FPS Balanced Mode for players with compatible 120Hz displays.

Remedy describes Control Resonant as a gameplay-driven experience and says responsiveness was one of its main priorities during development. That is reflected in the standard PS5 Performance Mode, which targets 60 FPS at 1440p. Players who prefer resolution over frame rate can instead switch to Quality Mode, which targets 2160p at 30 FPS.

The emphasis on responsiveness fits the sequel's redesigned combat. Dylan Faden replaces Jesse as the playable protagonist and fights using paranatural abilities alongside the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon that can change between different forms during combat.

Remedy has described the new fighting system as more focused on close-range encounters, dodging, staggering enemies, and responding to attacks. Building around 60 FPS gives players an option that prioritizes the faster response suited for that style of combat rather than making the higher-resolution mode the default experience.

The PS5 Pro version offers three graphics modes and uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Performance Mode increases the resolution target to 2160p while retaining the 60 FPS target, giving the upgraded console a significant resolution advantage over the equivalent mode on the standard PS5.

Players looking for higher visual quality can use the PS5 Pro Quality Mode, which also targets 2160p but lowers the frame rate to 30 FPS and adds ray tracing.

There is also a middle option. Balanced Mode targets 2160p at 40 FPS while keeping ray tracing enabled, although it requires a display capable of 120Hz. That gives PS5 Pro owners a choice between the highest frame-rate target, ray-traced visuals at 30 FPS, or a 40 FPS compromise that retains the additional lighting effects.

Remedy has not said that ray tracing is available in either of the standard PS5 modes.

DualSense support is built around Dylan's abilities

The PlayStation version also uses the DualSense controller to give Dylan's different paranatural abilities their own trigger feedback. Remedy says abilities can produce different levels of resistance through the adaptive triggers. Barrage, which launches projectiles at enemies, and the Volatile Anomaly ability are among the examples given by the studio.

Compatible headsets can also use 3D Audio, while fast travel between Manhattan's different Zones and Dylan's mental space known as the Gap is designed to be nearly instantaneous.

Control Resonant launches worldwide on September 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Remedy's newly published performance breakdown currently details the PS5 and PS5 Pro versions specifically, so equivalent graphics-mode targets for Xbox Series consoles should not be assumed from the PlayStation figures.
