Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown DLC Launches on PS5 With New Stories and Ocean Exploration
Crimson Desert's Charting the Unknown DLC adds new character stories, ocean exploration, romance, expanded housing, business management, and boss battles.
Pearl Abyss has released Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, the first major paid expansion for its open-world action-adventure game. The DLC launched on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, adding new storylines, ocean exploration, romance, and several gameplay systems.
Priced at $24.99 on the PlayStation Store, the expansion introduces new adventures for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. Players can also build ships, explore underwater locations, manage businesses, and take on additional combat challenges. The release arrives alongside Update 2.04.00, which introduces further improvements and fixes.
Three new storylines continue the adventure after the main campaign

Charting the Unknown expands the stories of all three playable characters, giving Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane individual quests that explore their futures after the events of the main game.
The new adventures involve political conflicts, mysterious threats, and secrets connected to Pywel's ancient history. Each character receives a separate storyline that becomes available after completing the main campaign quest "Journey's End." Players who have not finished the story can still experience some of the expansion's content earlier.
A new ocean-focused quest called "A Wider World" becomes available after completing "Howling Hill" and upgrading Greymane Camp to the required level. The quest introduces players to the expansion's seafaring activities and opens the way to exploring locations beyond the mainland.
Ships and underwater exploration expand Pywel's open world

One of the DLC's biggest additions is the ability to travel across Pywel's Great Ocean. Players can obtain ships, sail to previously unexplored islands, and discover new missions and treasures. Ships can be constructed through dispatch missions or purchased from fleetmasters. Players can also customize their vessels with additional parts and use them for maritime trading.
Exploration now extends beneath the ocean's surface. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane can dive underwater to investigate sunken ruins, collect treasure, and encounter new creatures.
Diving introduces a breath system that limits how long characters can remain underwater. Players can improve their diving equipment to increase breath capacity or use consumable items to stay submerged longer.
The expansion also introduces underwater mounts. Certain creatures can be tamed by building their Trust, giving players additional ways to explore the ocean.
Romance, expanded housing, and business management add new activities
Charting the Unknown also expands the game's life simulation features, giving players more ways to interact with Pywel's inhabitants. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane can develop romantic relationships with eligible NPCs by building Trust through conversations, gifts, and other interactions. These relationships can eventually lead to marriage.
Married characters can travel with their spouses and occasionally receive gifts from them. Players can also organize festivals at Greymane Camp, inviting characters with whom they have developed strong relationships.
Housing receives a substantial upgrade. Instead of only decorating existing interiors, players can now design their home's layout and place structural elements such as walls and windows. Certain castles can also be claimed after completing the required quests and liberating their strongholds. These properties offer additional opportunities for customization.
Business management introduces another activity for players interested in developing their settlements. Restaurants, sawmills, smithies, and tailor shops can be rented and operated in liberated regions. These facilities continue functioning while players explore elsewhere, providing additional rewards and management opportunities.
Garden of Trials adds challenging boss battles and skill rewards
Players looking for more combat can access the Garden of Trials, a new activity available after completing the main story. The mode features 10 groups of battles against powerful enemies. Players can bring up to three characters into a challenge, choosing the order in which Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane participate.
If one character is defeated, the next takes over. Food cannot be used for healing during these encounters, making preparation and survival more important. Completing each group strengthens one of the player's existing skills. The expansion also adds new weapons, armor, Abyss Gear, and bosses, with some encounters available for rematches through Memory Fragments.
Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, including Mac support through Steam. Pearl Abyss has also confirmed Mac App Store availability, although the required update may arrive later than on other platforms.
Players must own the base game to access the paid expansion. Pearl Abyss also recommends installing Update 2.04.00 before starting the new content.
