Cronos: Lazarus Gameplay Shows New Pathfinder Abilities

September 22, 2026·3 min read

The Pathfinder can reposition, misdirect enemies and reach hidden areas with a wider set of abilities. The expansion also follows his path toward becoming the Warden.

Bloober Team has released four minutes of new Cronos: Lazarus gameplay showing the Pathfinder's expanded combat and traversal abilities, including teleportation, decoys, temporary invisibility, and the new Gladius weapon.

The "Fight Like the Pathfinder" showcase gives a closer look at the faster combat style planned for the upcoming Cronos: The New Dawn expansion. Rather than relying only on careful positioning and gunfire, the Pathfinder can use his abilities to escape groups, redirect enemies, and create openings for more aggressive attacks.

Teleportation allows the Pathfinder to instantly move across designated areas, making it possible to reposition when enemies begin surrounding him.

The ability also works during exploration. Bloober Team says players can use it to move through distorted environments and reach otherwise inaccessible areas containing hidden resources, giving the mechanic a purpose beyond combat.https://zero1gaming.com/reviews/2013-05-01-survival-horror-vs-action-horror?utm_source=chatgpt.com

His Decoy ability creates another way to escape pressure. Activating it leaves a ghostly copy behind while the Pathfinder moves to a new position and becomes temporarily invisible to enemies. The new footage shows how those abilities can change the flow of an encounter, with enemies drawn toward the decoy while the Pathfinder moves elsewhere before attacking again.

The Gladius and Tracker Mode add more offensive options

The showcase also gives a closer look at the Gladius, a new weapon designed for the Pathfinder's more aggressive fighting style. Bloober Team describes it as a more powerful weapon with a higher rate of fire and piercing bullets that deal increased damage.

The footage also shows Tracker Mode, an explosive ability that lets the Pathfinder mark a location for a delayed blast. It can be combined with Decoy to draw enemies toward the ghostly copy before the marked area explodes.

The Pathfinder's expanded toolkit is part of a broader change in Lazarus. Bloober Team says the expansion is designed around faster and more aggressive combat than the base game, reflecting the protagonist's background as one of the Collective's Pathfinder agents.

Even in his weakened state, the character retains abilities and technology that were not available to the Traveler in Cronos: The New Dawn.

Cronos: Lazarus follows an earlier period in the Warden's life as the once-loyal Pathfinder begins transforming into the character seen in Cronos: The New Dawn.

Isolated in the Terminal and severed from the Collective, he is trying to revive a lost Essence when a new hunter is sent to find and eliminate him. Bloober Team describes the pursuer as relentless, highly adaptive, and capable of matching the Pathfinder's strength.

Cronos: Lazarus is scheduled for fall 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
