The Elder Scrolls 6 Finally Gets Official Sentinel Title After Eight Years
Bethesda has confirmed Sentinel as the title of The Elder Scrolls VI, with a teaser pointing to Hammerfell.
Bethesda Game Studios has officially revealed the full title of its next fantasy RPG, The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The announcement came on November 3, 2026, during a video celebrating Bethesda's 40th anniversary, more than eight years after the game was first announced.
Todd Howard introduced the reveal at the end of the anniversary presentation. A short teaser showed an Elder Scroll emerging from the sand before displaying the game's title and logo, offering the first major clue about its setting.
Sentinel confirms the return to Hammerfell

The subtitle points to Hammerfell, the homeland of the Redguards. Sentinel is one of the province's major cities, located near the Alik'r Desert, and the teaser's sandy setting reinforces that connection.
Bethesda also included a passage attributed to Yazar, a Moth Priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell. Dated 4E 206, the passage describes a mysterious vision involving a lost future and an undone victory.
The date is particularly interesting because The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim takes place in 4E 201, five years earlier. However, Bethesda has not confirmed whether the new game takes place during 4E 206 or whether the passage simply provides background for its story.
Bethesda has confirmed that the announcement reveals the game's name and location. The studio has not explained how much of Hammerfell players will be able to explore or whether other regions of Tamriel will appear.
Elder Scrolls 6 is being built using Creation Engine 3

Bethesda previously confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is being developed using Creation Engine 3, the latest version of its in-house game engine. The technology has been in development since Starfield launched and includes updated rendering systems, tools, and other improvements.
In a July 2026 development update, Bethesda revealed that most of its team was working on the next Elder Scrolls game. The studio also confirmed that developers were already playing the game internally and were satisfied with its progress.
Although the game is playable within the studio, Bethesda has not demonstrated its combat, exploration, or other gameplay systems publicly.
Bethesda warns that more details are still some time away
The November 3 announcement did not include gameplay footage, a release window, or confirmed platforms. Bethesda said development was continuing but warned that it would be some time before the studio was ready to share further information.
The Elder Scrolls VI was originally announced at E3 2018 with a brief teaser showing a mountainous landscape. More than eight years later, the game finally has an official subtitle and a clearer indication of its setting, although Bethesda has not announced when its next major reveal will take place.
Bethesda has not announced when it will show the first gameplay footage from The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel or provide its next development update.
