Ghost Recon: Wildlands Looks Set for PS5 Upgrade at 4K, 60FPS

Ghost Recon: Wildlands still carries one of the easiest reminders that it was built for older consoles. The open world remains fun to explore with friends, but the 30FPS limit makes aiming, driving, and quick camera movement feel heavy on PS5. A new store leak now suggests Ubisoft is preparing the upgrade players have wanted for years.

A promotional image that briefly appeared on the Xbox Store advertised 4K resolution, 60FPS support, and a new mission called Last Rites. Ubisoft has not announced the update, and the current PlayStation listing still describes the game as a PS4 release. The leak is strong enough to be taken seriously, but the PS5 details are not confirmed yet.

The leaked artwork described the changes as a major update rather than a completely separate game. That leaves open the possibility that existing copies could receive the performance improvements through a free patch. It could also be tied to a native PS5 and Xbox Series release, but there are no confirmed details about a new trophy list, save transfers, or separate downloads.

The Xbox version now lists 4K Ultra HD and 60FPS support among its features, while the PlayStation Store continues to show the Definitive Edition as a PS4 product. That difference is why the report is easier to prove on Xbox than PS5. Ubisoft may be updating each store in stages, or the PlayStation version may follow after an official announcement.

The image presented it as a new mission, but it did not explain the story, length, or whether every owner would receive it. The newly released Definitive Edition already includes older expansions, passes, and extra gear packs, so Ubisoft needs to explain whether this mission belongs to that package or arrives as a wider update.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands works best when a plan starts quietly and falls apart in seconds. A clean shot can become a chase through a village, followed by a helicopter escape or a messy fight with Unidad. That freedom still holds up, but the lower frame rate makes every fast turn and sudden firefight feel slower than it should on current hardware.

Moving to 60FPS would make aiming more responsive and give driving a much smoother feel across the large map. Co-op would also benefit because players often switch quickly between stealth, vehicles, drones, and open combat. The game does not need a full remake to feel modern again. A stable performance upgrade would improve almost every part of its moment-to-moment play.

The 4K claim is useful, but frame rate is likely to be the bigger improvement for returning players. Wildlands already received visual upgrades on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, yet both console versions remained capped at 30FPS. Current consoles have enough power to remove that old limit, which is why the lack of an update has stood out for so long.

The Definitive Edition launched in July 2026 and collects the base game, its two major expansions, the Season Pass, the Year 2 Pass, and four extra packs. Two of those packs are due in August, showing that Ubisoft has started adding content to Wildlands again after years of silence. That activity makes the leaked upgrade look less like an isolated store mistake.

Several basic questions still need answers before PS5 owners know what they are getting. Ubisoft has not said whether the update will be free, whether old saves will carry across, or whether a native PS5 version will have its own trophies. It also has not confirmed whether 4K and 60FPS will arrive together on every current console.

Wildlands still has a strong reason to return because few open-world shooters offer the same mix of co-op freedom, vehicles, stealth, and sudden chaos. The leaked update could give that experience the smoother console version it deserves. The next announcement needs to confirm the PS5 plan and explain who gets Last Rites without asking existing players to buy the whole game again.
