Gran Turismo 7 Brings Back Autumn Ring After 13-Year Absence

Gran Turismo 7 is bringing Autumn Ring back to the series in December, ending a 13-year absence for one of the original game's fictional circuits.

The track will arrive in the second half of the free Spec IV update. Autumn Ring first appeared in the original Gran Turismo and was last included in Gran Turismo 6 in 2013, making its return one of the update's biggest links to the series' past.

Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi described Autumn Ring as a circuit deeply connected to Gran Turismo's history and said its return will allow millions of players to experience it for the first time.

The returning circuit will include its familiar original layout alongside a new, greatly expanded configuration.

The timing is deliberate. Polyphony Digital is using Spec IV to begin celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary ahead of the original Gran Turismo's anniversary in 2027.

Bringing back one of the series' earliest fictional circuits gives that celebration a direct connection to the games that established Gran Turismo's identity. Autumn Ring appeared across several earlier entries before disappearing after Gran Turismo 6, leaving it absent from Gran Turismo 7 since the game launched in 2022.

Spec IV is being divided into two free updates because of the amount of content Polyphony is adding, with the first part arriving in October and the second following in December.

October introduces Sportsland SUGO, a real-world Japanese circuit making its Gran Turismo debut. Polyphony highlighted its elevation changes, flowing layout, and recognizable Dunlop bridge when announcing the track.

Autumn Ring then followed in December, giving Spec IV one completely new circuit and one returning track from Gran Turismo's history.

A total of 12 cars will also be introduced across the two updates. Polyphony has not revealed the full vehicle lineup yet, leaving another major part of Spec IV to be detailed closer to release.

Spec IV also expands how players can race rather than focusing only on new cars and circuits.

Shuffle Races are returning with randomized conditions for online competition, encouraging drivers to adapt their approach between races. Online Drift Trials will introduce another competitive option built around control, precision, and style.

Polyphony is also adding new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, additional progression features, and a Concierge system for buying cars.

The December update will introduce Family Mode, which is designed as a more accessible way for people with different levels of driving experience to play Gran Turismo 7 together.

More details about the cars, circuits, modes, and other features included across both parts of Spec IV will be revealed during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3.
