Gran Turismo 7 Confirms a New August 2026 Update

Gran Turismo 7 is getting another garage update this August. The new cars include more than just expensive supercars. Kazunori Yamauchi has teased four new cars for the next update. The racing game is getting new content again after skipping a major update in July.
The cars have not been officially named yet, but the silhouettes point strongly toward two 1990s Toyota sports sedans, Hyundai's latest performance EV, and a Caterham Seven. It is an unusual mix, which is why the update has already caught the attention of longtime Gran Turismo players.
Two of the four silhouettes appear to be the Toyota Chaser Tourer V and Mark II Tourer V from the JZX100 generation. Both cars became popular in Japan's tuning and drifting scene because they had rear-wheel drive and turbocharged 1JZ engines.
Players could spend hours turning ordinary Japanese coupes and sedans into something far quicker than their showroom looks suggested. Adding these cars gives the garage more variety than an update focused only on modern race cars.
The silhouettes still need an official reveal before the cars can be confirmed. Even so, the Toyota cars have already got a strong response, especially from players who want more Japanese road cars from the 1990s. They fit well in a game where tuning cars can be just as fun as collecting them.
The lightest car in the group appears to be a Caterham Seven Superlight R500. Caterham has been absent from the series since Gran Turismo 6, making its return one of the more nostalgic additions here. A small car with a great power-to-weight ratio should also feel very different from the heavier cars added recently.
Hyundai's Ioniq 6 N seems to be at the opposite end of the garage. The real car is a high-performance electric sedan with simulated gear changes and driving modes. These features are designed to make the EV feel more engaging to drive. After adding other Hyundai N models, Polyphony now has another chance to bring these unique features to Gran Turismo 7.
There is old-school Japanese tuning, a lightweight British sports car, and a modern electric performance sedan. Each car offers something different, giving players several good reasons to visit the dealership when the update arrives.
Polyphony has only teased the new cars so far, while the rest of the August update is still a secret. The last content update arrived in June with five cars and five new races. Earlier updates also added World Circuits events, Extra Menus, engine swaps, Scapes locations, and smaller fixes.
The update is also expected around the next Gran Turismo World Series event in Tokyo on August 15. Players can also earn viewer rewards from the broadcast, including two special race cars. These rewards are separate from Yamauchi's four-car teaser.
Polyphony has not confirmed an exact release date or the rest of the content yet. The next update should reveal all four cars and any new races or other content. The unusual car lineup already makes the August update interesting.
