Rise of the Tomb Raider Switch 2 Physical Release Includes a Game Card

October 7, 2026·3 min read

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is getting a physical Switch 2 release with a Game Card, including $49.99 Standard and $99.99 Collector's Editions.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is getting a physical Nintendo Switch 2 release, with Limited Run Games opening preorders for Standard and Collector's Editions on October 9.

Both editions include a physical Game Card rather than being sold as game-key card releases. The Standard Edition costs $49.99, while the $99.99 Collector's Edition adds several physical extras based on Lara Croft's search for the Divine Source. Preorders remain open until November 15 at 11:59 PM ET.

The $49.99 Standard Edition comes with a physical Game Card

Limited Run's Standard Edition includes the Switch 2 Game Card and case alongside an eight-page booklet. The release is region-free and is being sold through an open preorder rather than a fixed allocation, with no purchase limit listed.

Limited Run and Aspyr have confirmed that the package uses a physical Game Card. They have not specifically stated that no additional download will ever be required, so the announcement does not support going further and describing the complete installation as being stored entirely on the cartridge.

The Switch 2 version includes the base game and the content released for Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, including Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, Blood Ties, Lara's Nightmare, Endurance Mode, Co-op Endurance, additional outfits and weapons, classic Lara skins, and Extreme Survivor difficulty.

The Collector's Edition adds a light-up Divine Source replica

The $99.99 Collector's Edition includes the same physical game alongside a SteelCase, Trinity cloth patch, Collector's Edition box, and a light-up Divine Source replica designed as a desk ornament.

The Divine Source is the artifact at the center of Lara's journey to Kitezh, making it the most substantial game-specific collectible included in the package.

Both editions are currently listed as being in pre-production. Limited Run has not announced when finished copies will begin shipping, and it notes that the artwork can still change during manufacturing.

Switch 2 previously only had the digital release

Aspyr released Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration digitally for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 9, 2026, following its appearance during that day's Nintendo Direct. Nintendo lists the digital version at 17.6 GB and confirms support for online play, including the game's two-player content.

The Limited Run release therefore does not introduce a new Switch 2 version or additional game content. Its main addition is a boxed option for players who want a physical copy, with preorders for both editions running from October 9 through November 15.
