Until Dawn 2 Gets January 28, 2027 Release Date in New Trailer

Until Dawn 2 will launch for PS5 on January 28, 2027, with Firesprite revealing the release date alongside a new trailer during PlayStation's September State of Play.

The sequel follows Dead True, a group of fake ghost-hunting YouTubers whose investigation begins at Blackwood Sanitorium before taking them to Akishima Island. The footage also shows more of the branching decisions that can change relationships, uncover different clues, and determine which members of the group survive.

Dead True travels to Blackwood Sanitorium while filming an episode about the events that took place there 12 years earlier.

The group includes Owen, Mina, Nate, Reagan, Izzy, Luke, Josie, and Cameron. Their plans change after new intern Izzy, played by Sarah Catherine Hook, discovers something unexpected during the investigation.

The group later meets Yoona, a survivor of a supernatural attack, at HorrorCon in Sydney. Her warning sends Dead True toward Akishima Island, which becomes another major setting for the sequel. Firesprite says all eight members of Dead True can potentially survive or die depending on the player's decisions.

Peter Stormare is also returning as Dr. Hill, one of the original Until Dawn's most recognizable characters. Firesprite has not revealed how large his role will be in the new story.

Choice and consequence remains central to Until Dawn 2, with decisions affecting where characters go, what they discover, and what happens later.

One sequence follows Owen as he searches for his missing friend Nate. Players can follow a signal or take another route across an unstable bridge to investigate a nearby bar. The two paths can lead to different information and consequences rather than simply changing the immediate scene.

Another moment puts Mina in a ritual sacrifice scenario, where players can choose between sacrificing the group's chicken or setting it free and risking Mina's own blood instead.

Firesprite says relationships between the characters can also change as the story develops, adding another layer to decisions beyond determining who lives and dies.

Firesprite is developing Until Dawn 2 with narrative support from AdHoc Studio, the developer behind Dispatch.

AdHoc is contributing to the characters, dialogue, relationships, and branching narrative structure. Its involvement gives the sequel additional experience from a studio that recently built a game around player choices and changing character relationships.

The collaboration comes as Firesprite expands the structure established by the original Until Dawn with a completely new group and locations while retaining its survival-horror focus.

Pre-orders open on September 10 for the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Deluxe version includes additional costumes and Diorama of Death, a mode that lets players revisit character deaths through separate vignettes and view them from different angles.
