Xbox Officially Announces $50 Nano Controller for November
October 15, 2026·3 min read
Microsoft reveals the Xbox Nano Controller for $49.99, featuring a smaller design, rechargeable battery, Bluetooth support and a November 4 release.
Microsoft has officially revealed the Xbox Nano Controller, a smaller and lighter alternative to the standard Xbox Wireless Controller. Priced at $49.99, the new gamepad launches on November 4 and is designed primarily for younger players, smaller hands and anyone wanting a more portable controller.
The Nano measures a little over five inches long and weighs just 3.5 ounces, making it Xbox's smallest controller to date. Despite the reduced size, Microsoft says it retains all 18 standard gameplay inputs found on a conventional Xbox controller.
Xbox Nano Keeps the Familiar Controller Layout

The Nano retains Xbox's recognizable asymmetrical analog stick layout alongside its D-pad, face buttons, shoulder buttons and triggers. Microsoft has reduced the overall dimensions rather than removing the standard controls required for Xbox games.
A programmable Action Button has also been added and can be assigned to frequently used functions. Microsoft specifically lists screenshots and gameplay capture among the available shortcuts, giving players another customizable input without changing the basic control layout.
Unlike the regular Xbox Wireless Controller, which ships with AA batteries, the Nano includes an internal rechargeable battery. Charging requires a USB-C cable, although Microsoft says the cable is sold separately rather than included with the controller.
Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth Support Multiple Devices

The Nano supports Microsoft's Xbox Wireless connection for Xbox consoles. It also includes Bluetooth for connecting wirelessly to Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs, tablets, smartphones and compatible smart TVs.
Official compatibility includes Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, Android and iOS devices. That broader device support is part of Microsoft's focus on positioning the Nano as a controller players can easily carry between console, PC and cloud gaming setups.
The smaller form factor also gives Xbox a cheaper first-party option below its standard wireless controller. Microsoft describes the Nano as an entry-level model suited to family gaming, travel and shorter gaming sessions where carrying a full-size gamepad may be less convenient.
Xbox Nano Controller Launches November 4
Pre-orders for the Xbox Nano Controller are open now at $49.99 in the United States. Microsoft Store lists its release date as November 4, with availability also planned across numerous markets including
Canada, the UK, Australia, Japan and several European countries.
Microsoft is also partnering with Samsung and Meta on separate US holiday promotions. Select Samsung TV and Meta Quest purchases will include a Nano Controller alongside two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for eligible new members.
The Nano joins Microsoft's expanding controller range as a substantially smaller alternative rather than a replacement for the existing Xbox Wireless Controller. Its November launch gives Xbox players another first-party choice focused on portability, rechargeable power and a lower $49.99 starting price.
