The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the fifth main installment in The Legend of Zelda series and the first developed for Nintendo 64, bringing the series into 3D. Link leaves Kokiri Forest with the fairy Navi after learning that Ganondorf is seeking the Triforce. His journey spans Hyrule Field, towns, temples, and dungeons filled with enemies, puzzles, hidden rooms, and bosses. Drawing the Master Sword from its pedestal sends Link seven years into the future, allowing players to explore Hyrule as both a child and an adult while working to stop Ganondorf. Each version of Link can use different weapons, tools, and abilities, so progress often requires returning to locations in another time period. Items such as the bow, hookshot, bombs, and elemental arrows open routes and provide new ways to solve dungeon puzzles. The Ocarina of Time is used to perform learned songs that reveal secrets, activate mechanisms, summon Epona, change the time of day, and warp between locations. Combat uses a lock-on targeting system that keeps Link facing selected enemies while attacking, blocking, or moving around them. Exploration also includes optional quests, Pieces of Heart, Gold Skulltulas, fishing, and horseback travel across Hyrule.
