The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open-world action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red. Set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels, the game follows Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter searching for his adopted daughter, Ciri, while war and political conflict spread across the Northern Kingdoms. Players explore a large open world made up of regions including Velen, Novigrad and the Skellige Isles, taking on story quests, monster contracts and optional encounters along the way. Combat combines sword fighting, dodging, alchemy, bombs and Geralt’s magical Signs, with equipment and abilities allowing players to develop different approaches to battles. Choices made during quests can change character relationships, alter later events and lead to different outcomes across the main story and side content. The game was later expanded through Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, which introduced substantial new storylines, characters, enemies and locations. Widely acclaimed for its writing, world-building, quest design and depth, The Witcher 3 remains one of the most influential action RPGs of its generation.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone is the first major expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released in October 2015. It adds a new storyline set in the existing game world, where Geralt is hired to deal with Olgierd von Everec, a nobleman with a mysterious and cursed past. The expansion introduces new characters, quests, enemies, and the Runewords system, which enhances gear with powerful effects. It emphasises narrative depth and moral choices, consistent with the tone of the main game.

Blood and Wine is the second major expansion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The players will accompany Geralt of Rivia to the region of Toussaint, one of the few places in the Witcher universe which has remained largely untouched by the war. The calm, laid-back atmosphere holds a dark and bloody secret that only the White Wolf can uncover; the expansion features new items for players to collect on their adventure and introduces previously unknown characters.
