01Overview
God of War is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and a continuation of the original Greek-era series. Years after the events of God of War III, an older Kratos lives in the realm of Norse mythology with his young son, Atreus. The story follows the pair as they travel to scatter the ashes of Atreus’ mother from the highest peak in the realms. Along the way, Kratos must confront gods, monsters and his own violent past while teaching Atreus how to survive. Combat is built around the Leviathan Axe, Kratos’ shield and Atreus’ bow, with upgrades unlocking new abilities and attacks. Exploration also plays a larger role than in earlier games, with optional areas, puzzles and side quests spread across the interconnected world.
