Assassin's Creed Valhalla New Game+ Arrives November 5 After Ubisoft Reverses Earlier Decision
Assassin's Creed Valhalla gets New Game+ on November 5, alongside Mithril upgrades, new rewards, and progression changes after Ubisoft's 2022 reversal.
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will receive New Game+ on November 5, 2026, nearly six years after the game's original release. The announcement marks a significant reversal of the publisher's 2022 decision not to introduce the feature.
The update comes as Assassin's Creed Valhalla surpasses 40 million players worldwide. Alongside New Game+, Ubisoft is introducing new equipment upgrades, an optional progression system, additional rewards, and other improvements.
New Game+ lets players restart Eivor's adventure with existing progression

The long-awaited mode will allow players to begin Eivor's story again while carrying over much of their progress from a previous playthrough.
Players can return to England with their favorite equipment, experiment with different character builds, and replay the campaign without starting entirely from scratch.
Ubisoft has also confirmed dedicated New Game+ scaling, which will adjust the experience for returning players. However, the publisher has not explained exactly how the scaling will work or which progression elements can be carried into a new playthrough.
Ubisoft plans to explain those details in its upcoming patch notes.
Mithril, Divine Gear upgrades, and new rewards are included

New Game+ is not the only addition arriving in the November update. Ubisoft has confirmed several changes to character progression and equipment customization. One addition is an optional progression mode that changes how Eivor's overall Power is calculated. Under this system, Gear, Runes, and Masteries will all contribute to the character's Power rating.
The update also introduces Mithril, a new resource used to upgrade Divine Gear and strengthen runes. Ubisoft is expanding Divine Gear quality to all items, giving players more opportunities to improve their existing equipment.
Additional runes, achievements, and a stash system are also planned. However, the publisher has not explained how the new storage feature will work.
Players will also be able to earn new rewards, including a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe, one of the protagonists of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Ubisoft has not revealed the complete reward lineup or the requirements for unlocking the new outfit.
Ubisoft previously ruled out New Game+ in 2022
The announcement is particularly notable because Ubisoft previously confirmed that New Game+ would not be added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In November 2022, the development team explained that it had investigated the feature but struggled to find a way to make another playthrough sufficiently different and rewarding.
The studio pointed to the game's large world and progression structure as challenges. It ultimately decided to complete its existing content roadmap without introducing the requested mode. The Last Chapter, which concluded Eivor's story, arrived in December 2022. Ubisoft followed it with Title Update 1.7.0 in February 2023, marking the end of the game's scheduled post-launch support.
More than three years later, the publisher is returning to the Viking adventure with one of its most requested features.
Ubisoft announced the decision in its October 29 franchise update, describing New Game+ as part of the celebration for the game's 40 million-player milestone. That figure represents players, not confirmed copies sold.
The publisher has also asked the community to share feedback on the update, which could inform discussions about similar improvements for other Assassin's Creed titles. Ubisoft has not confirmed when the full patch notes will be published. The publisher also plans to share further information about current-generation console updates in the coming days.
