Players coming back to Call of Duty: Black Ops II on PlayStation are noticing more than the game's classic maps and weapons. Entering the wrong public lobby can reportedly alter an account, damage multiplayer progress, and leave parts of the game difficult or impossible to use.
The problem affects the new PS4 and PS5 ports released on July 9. Accounts caught in an affected lobby can be pushed into an invalid Prestige 16, Level 55 state, with weapon unlocks, attachments, camos, and Create-a-Class progress no longer behaving properly. Community reports have linked several incidents to the name "C Isn't Sharp," although the number and identity of the people involved remain unconfirmed.

Players have described the same pattern after joining compromised matches. Their rank changes without permission, menus begin crashing, and loadouts stop working as expected. What begins as one bad multiplayer session can remain attached to the account after leaving, turning a few minutes with a cheater into a much larger problem.
That damage cuts directly into the reason many people returned to Black Ops II. Its multiplayer is built around levelling weapons, unlocking attachments, earning camos, and slowly shaping a set of classes. Losing access to those systems is not the same as being killed by an aimbot or trapped in a broken match. It can wipe out the progress that made the account worth returning to.
Fresh Start may restore access for some affected players, but it is a poor answer because it removes legitimate multiplayer progress by design. Some users have also reported that the option is unavailable once their account reaches the broken state. Players need a way to repair their data without sacrificing everything they earned before the exploit appeared.

Community warnings advise players to fully close the game if a lobby shows an account with no prestige icon, an impossible Prestige 16 rank, or unusual coloured names. Leaving through the normal menu may not be enough, since the unwanted account changes can save before the player reaches the multiplayer screen again.
Footage shared from public matches has made the problem harder to dismiss as an isolated menu bug. The exact method behind the attack has not been explained, so claims about how it works should be treated carefully. joining the wrong lobby can alter progress without any action from the account owner.
Campaign and solo Zombies remain available, but avoiding public multiplayer removes the main attraction for many returning players. The new releases include the original Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies content rather than remastered versions, and their value depends heavily on being able to use those modes without putting an old account at risk.
Activision had not detailed a full fix or recovery plan for this specific Black Ops II issue when reports began spreading. Blocking the exploit is only one part of the job. Accounts already pushed into the invalid rank need their unlocks, classes, and progression repaired rather than being left in a damaged state.
The original Call of Duty: Black Ops PlayStation port suffered a separate XP exploit earlier in July. Playlist changes, server-side measures, and account resets were used to respond, showing that the publisher can make changes without replacing the entire release. Those earlier fixes do not automatically solve what is now happening in Black Ops II.
Removing one visible account would also offer little protection if the same method can be used again under another name. Players need clear confirmation that public matchmaking is safe, along with a reliable recovery option for anyone already affected. Until that arrives, protecting a long-running account may mean staying out of Black Ops II public lobbies entirely.
