EA Confirms Leaked Iron Man Gameplay Footage Is Real

EA has confirmed that a leaked video from Motive Studio's upcoming Iron Man game is genuine after more than two minutes of unfinished gameplay began circulating online.

The game's official account acknowledged the leak on August 28, saying, "Well, that didn't go as planned. But now you know, and we've got a lot more to show you. See you when we're ready."

The work-in-progress footage shows Iron Man flying freely through a city before landing and fighting enemies on the ground. It is the clearest look yet at a project that EA first announced in 2022 but has not formally shown in gameplay.

EA's response confirms that the footage is genuine, but it does not make everything shown a confirmed feature of the finished game. Motive has not said how old the build is, and the leaked material was not released as an official gameplay presentation.

Flight has been a major focus for Motive

Motive identified flight as a key part of the Iron Man experience early in development. Creative Director Ian Frazier previously said flying is "fundamental to the fantasy of being Iron Man," with the studio drawing on lessons learned while developing Star Wars: Squadrons.

Several developers working on Iron Man previously contributed to Squadrons, where Motive spent years developing its approach to player-controlled flight. The leaked footage now offers an early glimpse of how the studio may be applying that experience to Iron Man's movement, although the final flight system has not been detailed.

Motive is building an original single-player Iron Man story

EA describes the project as a single-player, third-person action-adventure developed by Motive in collaboration with Marvel Games. The studio is creating an original story around Tony Stark that draws on Iron Man's history.

Motive later selected Unreal Engine 5 for the project and has continued developing Iron Man alongside its work on the Battlefield series. Motive said in 2024 that the Iron Man team had reached a major internal milestone and that development was continuing under Executive Producer Olivier Proulx and Creative Director Ian Frazier.

EA has not announced a release date for Iron Man.
