Eternal Hunters SNES RPG Showcases Two-Player Co-Op Ahead of Kickstarter

October 26, 2026·2 min read

Eternal Hunters is a new SNES action RPG featuring two-player co-op, time travel, demon hunting, and a planned Kickstarter demo.

Eternal Hunters: The Branford Legacy, an upcoming action RPG developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), has received a new showcase ahead of its planned Kickstarter campaign. French developer Ultima Team is working with Story Bird Studios on the project, which features real-time combat, two-player co-op, and a story involving time travel.

Originally unveiled in 2025, the game returned to the spotlight in October 2026 with further details about its development and crowdfunding plans. A playable prototype is also planned for the Kickstarter campaign, giving players an early look at the adventure.

Eternal Hunters follows Duncan, a young man who inherits his family's demon-hunting legacy after his father's death. He teams up with Clive, an experienced warrior, to pursue a powerful demon that has returned. Their journey takes them through different periods in time and draws them into a larger conflict.

Combat takes place in real time, with players fighting enemies through an action-based battle system rather than traditional turn-based encounters. The game supports solo play and two-player co-op, allowing friends to experience the adventure together.

Its cooperative gameplay and time-travel storyline have drawn comparisons to classic SNES RPGs such as Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger.

Ultima Team is developing Eternal Hunters for original SNES hardware

Unlike modern games designed to resemble 16-bit classics, Eternal Hunters is being developed natively for the Super Nintendo. Ultima Team aims to make full use of the console's graphics and sound capabilities while creating an original RPG for the ageing hardware.

French composer Raphaël Gesqua is handling the game's music and sound design. Gesqua previously worked on Mr. Nutz, Flashback, and other games from the 1990s. His involvement brings experience with the SNES sound hardware to the project.

Kickstarter campaign will include a playable prototype

Ultima Team plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign to help finance the game's full production. The campaign will include a playable prototype of the SNES version, allowing potential supporters to experience the game before committing to the project.

Interested players can register to receive updates about the crowdfunding launch.

A final release date, funding target, and pricing have not been announced. The original Super Nintendo remains the project's confirmed development platform.
