Ghost of Yōtei is shaping up for a much bigger second year than a simple anniversary update. Sucker Punch has announced a Complete Edition for October 1. It adds a new story expansion, a single-player survival mode, and several quality-of-life improvements to the PS5 action game.
The package costs $69.99 for new players, while existing owners can upgrade for $14.99. The price is not the main story, though. Echoes of Sekigahara tells more of Atsu's past. Most Wanted adds a repeatable combat mode with different characters and weapons.

The Complete Edition includes the base game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Digital Deluxe content, the Charm of Hokkyokusei, and the two new additions. Players who already own the game do not need to buy the full package. The $14.99 upgrade includes Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.
The new content arrives on October 1 alongside an update for all owners. The free patch adds Beauty of Yōtei, a screensaver-style mode that lets players enjoy Ezo's scenery. It also lets players keep one armor set's look while using another set's stats. A new high-contrast accessibility option is also included.
Watanabe Mode is getting new music, Photo Mode is receiving more stamps, and New Game Plus is getting additional cosmetics. New Trophies will also be added for both paid expansions. This gives completionists something new to unlock.

Echoes of Sekigahara is the more traditional expansion, but its setting gives it a useful angle on Atsu. The story moves between the present and flashbacks to Atsu's time on the mainland. Nagato, someone from her past, arrives in Ezo and brings more of her history into the story.
The present-day portion takes Atsu into a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his followers, the Vipers. The past sections revisit Atsu's time around the Battle of Sekigahara. They also show an important moment from her life before she returned home and began her revenge journey.
New enemies and equipment are also part of the expansion, including heavy weapons, armor sets, and dyes. This gives players more than just another story chapter. Returning to the Vipers' old territory also lets Sucker Punch explore an area that the original game moved past quickly.
Most Wanted takes the sword fighting from the main campaign and reshapes it into a single-player combat survival mode. Players take bounties to start runs and defeat enemies to earn perks. They can also unlock new characters as they progress. Sucker Punch calls it its own take on the roguelike format.
Atsu is not the only fighter available and she uses dual katana, Oyuki specializes in the kusarigama, and Nagato fights with a yari. Different weapons should make each run feel different. Players can then learn which perks and combat choices work best for each character.
The mode is still mostly a mystery, with more details promised before October. The expansion is the safer choice for players who want more story. Most Wanted could keep players coming back after they finish the new campaign, with both arriving on October 1.
