Demon’s Souls And Ghost Of Yōtei Have Just Been Booted On PC

Demon’s Souls and Ghost of Yōtei have reached PC in a way that sounds exciting at first, but players should understand what actually happened. Both PS5 games have been shown booting through early  emulator work, which means they can start in some form on PC, not that they are ready to play.

The news has caught attention because both games are closely tied to PlayStation hardware. Demon’s Souls remains one of the biggest missing PS5 exclusives on PC, while Ghost of Yōtei is still a recent PlayStation release that many PC players would like to see officially ported one day.

Sony has not announced PC versions of Demon’s Souls or Ghost of Yōtei. The new progress comes from PS5 emulation, where developers are trying to understand how PlayStation 5 software can run on PC through tools built for research and testing.

SharpEmu, the emulator tied to the latest attention, is still very early in development. Its own project page makes clear that most games do not run properly yet, and a boot result only means a game can load far enough to show early output.

That detail is important because “booted on PC” can sound much bigger than it really is. For normal players, this is not the same as downloading a finished PC port from Steam or playing either game with stable performance, working audio, clean graphics, and proper saves.

Demon’s Souls seems to have made the stronger jump in recent testing, with reports saying the PS5 remake can reach the tutorial area. That is still early progress, but it is more meaningful than only showing a logo or crashing before players can see anything useful.

The interest around Demon’s Souls makes sense because PC players have been asking for the remake since the PS5 launched. The original PS3 version already has a long emulation history on PC, but Bluepoint’s remake has stayed locked to newer PlayStation hardware.

Ghost of Yōtei is reaching a much earlier stage, with reports saying it can show the starting screen before crashing. That is still notable for a recent PS5 exclusive, but it does not mean players should expect a playable PC version anytime soon.

PS5 emulation still has a long road before games like these can feel close to normal PC releases. Developers need to solve graphics problems, crashes, performance issues, audio bugs, input handling, save behavior, and many game-specific problems before full playability becomes realistic.

The timing has made the story more interesting because Sony’s PC plans remain uneven. Several PlayStation games have reached PC over the years, but Demon’s Souls is still missing, and Ghost of Yōtei has not been confirmed for anything beyond PlayStation.

For now, the safest thing to say is that we should wait for more information before making any firm conclusions. The boot tests show that PS5 emulation is moving forward, but the official way to play Demon’s Souls and Ghost of Yōtei is still on PlayStation 5.
