Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gets free suit update three years later
June 19, 2026·4 min read
A lot of players had already moved on from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The main story was finished, the PC version had launched, and Insomniac had already said no extra story DLC was planned. For most fans, the game had become something to revisit for Photo Mode, New Game Plus, or a quick swing through New York.
Insomniac is adding Peter Parker’s Fresh Start suit to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on July 28, and the update will be free for PS5 and PC players. The suit is based on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next live-action Spider-Man movie, which arrives in theaters on July 31.
Peter gets a new movie suit
The Fresh Start suit gives Peter a new red-and-blue look based on the upcoming film. It keeps the classic Spider-Man style, but the design is cleaner and includes visible web shooters like the movie costume.
This is a cosmetic update, so players should not expect new missions, new villains, or a new ending. The suit is the full update here, and it will be added to Peter’s suit menu after the download is available. Suits have always been a big part of Insomniac’s games, especially for players who enjoy swinging around the city, taking screenshots, and replaying fights with different looks.

The update lines up with the movie
The July 28 update arrives just before Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on July 31. The timing is clearly meant to connect the game with the movie without asking players to pay for a small tie-in.
Players usually respond well when movie costumes are added for free, especially in a game that already has so many Spider-Man looks from films, comics, and other parts of the character’s history. It also keeps Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 visible during a big Spider-Man week. The game is not getting a new campaign, but the free suit gives fans an easy reason to open it again before the film arrives.
This is not story DLC
Insomniac has already said Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is not getting additional story content. That means this update should not be treated as a sign that a larger expansion is coming. The main game left fans talking about Venom, Carnage, and possible future stories, so a new update can quickly raise expectations.
The Fresh Start suit is best viewed as a bonus for fans who still enjoy the game. It adds one new look for Peter, but it does not change the story, add new side activities, or set up another playable chapter.
PS5 and PC players are included
The update is coming to both PS5 and PC. That means players who bought the original console release and players who picked up the later PC version will both get the suit.
There is no PS4 version to update because Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 never launched on PS4. Players still using Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered or Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales should not expect this suit to appear in those older games.
For PC players, the free suit is a nice extra after the later launch. For PS5 players, it is a small reason to return to a game many finished years ago.
A small update still fits the game
The Fresh Start suit will not change how Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 plays, but it does not really need to. Players can load in, swing across the city, clear a few crimes, and take a dozen screenshots before closing the game again. That makes a free suit update more useful than it might sound. It gives fans something new without pretending the game is getting a full second life.
Insomniac is keeping the update simple: one free movie suit, both main platforms, and a release date just before the film. For players who still like returning to New York now and then, July 28 is worth marking.
