Mass Effect Legendary Edition Multiplayer Mod Targets November 7 Release

November 2, 2026·3 min read

ME3Tweaks targets November 7 to bring four-player Mass Effect 3 co-op back to Legendary Edition with improvements.

Modding group ME3Tweaks is working to restore Mass Effect 3's cooperative multiplayer mode in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, with a planned release on November 7, 2026. The team has spent three years developing the project, which aims to bring back the four-player experience with several improvements.

BioWare excluded multiplayer when Mass Effect Legendary Edition launched in 2021, focusing instead on the trilogy's single-player campaigns. The new fan-made project aims to restore that missing feature while updating its visuals, networking, and gameplay systems.

The original Mass Effect 3 multiplayer allowed teams of up to four players to survive waves of enemies, complete objectives, and unlock new characters and equipment. ME3Tweaks wants to bring that experience into the remastered collection rather than simply replicate the 2012 release.

Speaking to PC Gamer, modder Audemus described the project as an extensive remaster. The team is bringing over features supported by the Legendary Edition, including native controller support and HDR.

Visual improvements include redesigned menus, updated lighting, improved shaders, and higher-resolution textures. The developers are also addressing multiplayer bugs and upgrading networking and server synchronization.

The project is being built with future mod support in mind. ME3Tweaks wants to make additional modifications easier to install and maintain without creating unnecessary compatibility problems.

Unified mode will combine enemies from different factions

Beyond restoring the original multiplayer content, the team is introducing new ways to play. One addition is Unified, a mode that combines enemies from multiple factions during the same match. In the original multiplayer, players typically faced one enemy faction at a time. These included Cerberus, Geth, Reapers, and Collectors.

Unified will change that structure by bringing different enemy types into the same encounter. Players will need to adapt their tactics rather than prepare for a single faction. The developers are also planning different server options. Players will be able to connect through an ME3Tweaks-operated server or host private servers for their own groups.

These changes are intended to improve the cooperative experience while retaining the combat that made the original mode popular.

November 7 release remains the team's target

ME3Tweaks plans to release the multiplayer restoration on November 7, the annual N7 Day celebration for the Mass Effect franchise. However, the project has not yet received a public release, and the team has not confirmed its final installation requirements.

ME3Tweaks has previously restored content missing from Mass Effect Legendary Edition. In November 2021, the group released a fan-made version of Pinnacle Station, an expansion from the original Mass Effect that BioWare could not include in the remastered collection.

There is also another multiplayer project already available. Modder PayDay released Mass Effect Legendary Edition Multiplayer (LEMP) on Nexus Mods on October 15, 2026. That separate modification restores cooperative multiplayer with characters, maps, enemy factions, and progression systems from the original game.

LEMP is not the upcoming ME3Tweaks project, although it uses several tools developed by the modding group. Both projects are unofficial community efforts. Neither BioWare nor Electronic Arts has announced an official multiplayer update for Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
