Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile in January 2027
October 10, 2026·3 min read
Ubisoft is ending Rainbow Six Mobile after a short global run, while its next season will still launch before servers close in January 2027.
Ubisoft is shutting down Rainbow Six Mobile, with the tactical shooter remaining playable until January 15, 2027. The decision comes less than a year after its worldwide launch on iOS and Android in February 2026, although the game had been available through soft launch programs since 2023.
Ubisoft says the shutdown is intended to align its resources with other long-term projects rather than being directly attributed to player numbers. The development team will move onto those projects after supporting Rainbow Six Mobile through its remaining months.
Rainbow Six Mobile will remain playable until January

Ubisoft has confirmed that the game's online services will continue operating until January 15. Players can therefore keep accessing matches and existing content during the transition period.
The next planned season will also launch as scheduled rather than being cancelled because of the shutdown. Ubisoft has not yet detailed exactly how much additional content will arrive before servers close, but it says more information will be shared over the coming weeks.
The company has also not announced its final policy for purchases, refunds or unused in-game currency. Those details are expected to be addressed as Ubisoft explains how the shutdown process will work.
The game only launched worldwide in February
Rainbow Six Mobile was originally announced in 2022 as a free-to-play adaptation of the series built specifically for smartphones. Ubisoft began a limited soft launch in 2023 and spent several years testing the game across different countries before taking it worldwide on February 24, 2026.
The mobile version adapts the Attack versus Defense structure associated with Rainbow Six Siege. Teams of five compete in close-quarters matches using Operators with individual weapons, gadgets and abilities.
Ubisoft continued adding modes and Operators after the global launch. Its recent Operation Concrete Impact season introduced Zofia and a permanent 3v3 Close Quarters mode, while the game has also hosted collaborations including a crossover with PAYDAY.
Fifteen seasons arrived before the shutdown decision

Ubisoft says Rainbow Six Mobile has gone through 15 seasons since its original soft launch. That period included multiple tests, regional releases and changes aimed at improving performance across a wider range of mobile devices.
Development was not always straightforward. Ubisoft temporarily paused the rollout into new territories during the soft-launch period in 2024 so the team could concentrate on server performance, bugs, connectivity and hardware optimization.
The game eventually reached its worldwide release more than three years after it was first announced. Its global lifespan will now be much shorter, with online services scheduled to end roughly 11 months after the full launch.
Ubisoft is moving the development team elsewhere
Ubisoft has not identified the projects that Rainbow Six Mobile developers will work on after support ends. The company has only described them as long-term strategic projects.
Players can continue using Rainbow Six Mobile until January 15, 2027, and the next season will still arrive as planned. More information about purchases, remaining content and the final transition will be released before the servers close.
