Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Launch Trailer Digs Into Sophia's Past

Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have released the final trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, giving another look at Sophia's past and the mysteries waiting on Minotaur Island ahead of the game's August 27 launch.
Premiered during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, the trailer focuses on the loss, betrayal, and events that drive Sophia toward the island. Resonance takes place 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem and follows a younger version of the character before her later journey with Amicia and Hugo.
Sophia's journey begins after a heist involving her late father's gang goes wrong, forcing her to flee Venice with her companion Leni. Her escape eventually leads to Minotaur Island, where she begins uncovering her family's connection to the island and the secrets hidden beneath it.
The launch trailer leans heavily into that personal story, showing Sophia facing the consequences of betrayal while an armed force continues to pursue her. The island itself becomes increasingly important as she explores ancient ruins and moves deeper underground in search of answers.
Resonance also follows events from the Minoan era, creating a second timeline more than 2,000 years before Sophia's journey. As she explores the island, Sophia begins experiencing connections to Theseus, the legendary figure whose story becomes part of the mystery unfolding around her.
Asobo is using the two timelines to explore the history behind the Macula, the supernatural force at the center of the previous A Plague Tale games. The studio says Sophia will uncover long-buried secrets connected to the island while learning more about the Macula's origins.
Sophia is built for more direct combat than Amicia. She can fight with a sword and dagger, parry attacks, kick enemies, and use a grappling hook to pull opponents toward her or into environmental hazards. Stealth remains part of the game, while exploration includes puzzles based around manipulating light.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
