Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Reveals Final Fantasy VII, Persona and Hello Kitty Crossovers for Year 2

October 12, 2026·Updated October 12, 2026·4 min read

Sega has revealed the Year 2 roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, featuring six crossover DLC packs based on Final Fantasy VII, Persona, Hello Kitty, Godzilla, Evangelion, and classic Sega games. The plans also include free playable characters, a new Duel Mode, additional Gadgets, and permanent price reductions.

Sega has revealed the remaining Year 2 collaborations for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, confirming new content based on Final Fantasy VII Remake, Persona, Sanrio, and classic Sega arcade games.

The announcement completes a six-pack DLC roadmap that already includes Godzilla and Evangelion. The second year begins on November 3, 2026, with new courses, vehicles, and playable characters arriving throughout 2027. Sega is also introducing free racers, a new Duel Mode, and a permanent price reduction for the game.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. Currently titled the Midgar Pack, it will include a new course, two playable racers, and one vehicle. Sega has not revealed which Final Fantasy VII characters will be playable or what the vehicle will look like.

The Persona crossover follows in the fourth quarter of 2027. Called the Reload Revival Royal Pack, it will introduce another course, two racers, and two vehicles. The characters and track have not been revealed.

Sanrio's collaboration will arrive earlier, during the second quarter of 2027. The Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack features Hello Kitty and Kuromi as playable racers, alongside themed vehicles and a course inspired by Japan's Sanrio Puroland theme park.

Sega is also revisiting its arcade history with the SEGALAND Pack in the third quarter of 2027. It includes a new course and three vehicles inspired by OutRun, After Burner, and Super Megalo.

Godzilla and Evangelion will open the new season

The first Year 2 DLC arrives on November 3 with the Godzilla Pack. Its main addition is Godzilla Escape, a new course that brings the monster into the City Escape setting from Sonic Adventure 2. The pack also includes vehicles inspired by Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

Godzilla has not been announced as a playable racer. The collaboration focuses on the course, vehicles, and themed audio. The Evangelion Pack follows in January 2027. Unlike the Godzilla collaboration, it includes two playable characters: Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley.

Players will also receive the Tokyo-III course and three vehicles based on EVA units. Both crossover packs include additional music and sound effects inspired by their respective franchises.

Bayonetta and a new Duel Mode are coming for free

Paid DLC is only part of Sega's Year 2 plans. The November 3 update will also introduce Bayonetta as a free racer, unlockable through the new Rival Duel mode. Duel Mode introduces one-on-one races against computer-controlled opponents, online rivals, or friends. It features a Duel Boost system that rewards strategic item use with bursts of speed.

The update also introduces the Grand Master Plate, which adds a seventh Gadget slot reserved for one-slot Gadgets and strengthens their effects. Another 15 Gadgets will be added when Year 2 begins.

Another free collaboration arrives later in November through McLaren Racing. It includes a racing vehicle and a new Sonic appearance inspired by McLaren's racing colors. Aigis from Persona 3 Reload will join the roster in early 2027 alongside her Palladion Dressy vehicle.

Season Pass Two costs $29.99 as the base game gets cheaper

All six crossover packs are included in Season Pass Two, which costs $29.99 in the US. Each pack will also be sold separately. The pass includes bonus Sega-themed decals and vehicles modeled after the Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast consoles.

Players who own both Season Pass One and Season Pass Two will receive Super Shadow and the Super Dark Flare vehicle as additional rewards. Sega has specified that Super Shadow will only be playable in Grand Prix mode.

Alongside the new content, Sega has permanently reduced the game's US digital prices. The Standard Edition now costs $39.99, down from $69.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition has dropped from $89.99 to $59.99.

A separate Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition is available for $59.99. It bundles the base game with Season Pass Two, giving new players access to the upcoming crossover content without purchasing the pass separately. Sega advises existing owners to buy Season Pass Two on its own, since the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition includes another copy of the base game.
