Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Samba de Amigo in Free Update

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has added Amigo from Samba de Amigo as a free playable racer. SEGA's latest crossover update also includes the Locomotive de Amigo vehicle, a Classic skin, new emotes and sounds, and music from the rhythm series.

The content is available at no additional cost to owners of the Standard physical or digital edition and the Digital Deluxe edition after updating the game.

Amigo joins the roster with his own vehicle, the Locomotive de Amigo, bringing another classic SEGA series into CrossWorlds. Players also receive an Amigo Classic skin featuring his familiar sombrero, along with character-specific emotes and sounds.

Unlike the game's larger paid crossover packs, Amigo is being distributed as a free racer. SEGA previously used the same approach for additions including Classic Sonic and Axel from Crazy Taxi, building out the roster with characters from its own franchises alongside the game's paid collaborations.

The update adds three Samba de Amigo tracks to the Jukebox.

"VAMOS A CARNAVAL - 2023 Ver." joins the soundtrack alongside a separate Final Lap version that can play during the closing portion of a race. "Let's find and shake it" is also included, although SEGA says that track is limited to the Jukebox and cannot be selected as race background music.

SEGA is also holding a Samba de Amigo Festival to mark Amigo's arrival. Players earn Festival Points by taking part during the event, with progression unlocking crossover rewards including decals and gadgets. The Festival runs until September 13 at 4:59 PM PT.

Some of those rewards may return later. SEGA says gadgets obtained through Festivals can be distributed again in future updates, so missing the event does not necessarily mean every reward will remain unavailable.

The Festival is the limited-time part of the crossover. SEGA lists Amigo, the Locomotive de Amigo, Classic skin, and new music separately as part of the free content update, with no end date announced for those additions.
