The Witcher 3 Remastered Patch Improves Visuals as Switch 2 Fix Nears
October 11, 2026·3 min read
CD Projekt Red's first major post-launch patch expands graphics controls and fixes gameplay issues, with Switch 2 clarity improvements still coming.
CD Projekt Red has released Patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, bringing another round of visual, performance and gameplay fixes. Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait a little longer, with a separate update in development to improve image clarity and bring the version closer to its counterparts.
Patch 5.01 arrived on October 8, just over a week after the remaster launched. Among its most noticeable changes are new graphics options on consoles, visual adjustments to lighting and bloom, and fixes for several problems affecting performance and responsiveness.
Console players get more graphics controls

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can now adjust Bloom, Light Shafts and Depth of Field directly through the graphics settings. CD Projekt Red has also introduced several console performance optimizations as part of the update.
The patch fixes incorrect frame-rate limits affecting different graphics modes on the standard PS5 and resolves an issue that caused settings on Sony's console to reset every time the game was launched. A previous PC fix for voiceover audio becoming significantly quieter after navigating the pause menu has now been applied to consoles as well.
Visual changes extend beyond console-specific settings. CD Projekt Red has adjusted Bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, Ray Tracing and Path Tracing while continuing to refine the remaster's upgraded presentation.
Gameplay and save issues also receive fixes
Patch 5.01 addresses several problems affecting normal gameplay. Automatically Apply Blade Oils should now continue working properly between sessions, while dodging no longer suffers from an unintended delay under certain circumstances.
Geralt should also interact with ladders more smoothly, and dead enemies will no longer continue blocking him after certain Aard finishers. Other fixes target uncontrollable boats, incorrect GPU selection and situations where Dynamic Resolution Scaling could produce visual artifacts.
CD Projekt Red has additionally fixed an issue capable of affecting save data. The studio says measures have been included to address saves that may already have been impacted, although it has not detailed how widespread the problem was.
Switch 2 patch will target blurry visuals

Nintendo Switch 2 is not included in the initial Patch 5.01 rollout. CD Projekt Red says it is preparing a separate update for the platform that will include the same global improvements while also addressing Switch 2-specific problems.
Image clarity and sharpness are specifically named as areas being improved. That should target complaints that parts of the Switch 2 version can appear noticeably softer or blurrier than expected despite the more powerful hardware.
The studio has not yet provided a release date for the Switch 2 patch. More information is expected within the coming days, suggesting players may not have to wait long for the first substantial visual update.
Remastered launched as a free upgrade in September
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launched on September 29 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Existing owners can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem, while the remaster also includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.
The new version introduces upgraded textures, lighting, rendering and gameplay improvements across Geralt's adventure. Patch 5.01 continues CD Projekt Red's early post-launch work on those changes, while Switch 2 owners are now waiting for their platform-specific visual fixes to arrive.
