Xbox PC App Reveals More of Reported Mythic Achievement System

More details about Xbox's reported Mythic Achievement system have surfaced through the Xbox app for Windows, including a dedicated symbol, unlock sound, and interface elements tied to completing a game's Achievement list.

The discovery provides another look at the still-unannounced Mythic implementation. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said in August that the team was working on "something for later this year" when asked about a Platinum Trophy equivalent, but Microsoft has not announced the Mythic name or confirmed how the system will work.

Xbox-focused creator Klobrille discovered a dedicated Mythic badge and unlock sound in the latest Xbox PC app, while an analysis by XCT.live also found Mythic-specific animation, progress, and base-game Achievement systems.

The app evidence suggests Mythic functions as a game-level completion status rather than another standard Achievement added to a game's list.

An earlier Xbox Insider console build had already exposed filters for completed and incomplete Mythic Achievements. The newer PC app material goes further by showing assets and tracking systems connected to the feature rather than only its name.

TrueAchievements reports that a Mythic will be awarded after a player unlocks every Achievement from a game's original base list. Achievements introduced later through DLC or title updates would not prevent the Mythic from being earned.

TrueAchievements also reports that Mythic Achievements will carry zero Gamerscore themselves. Instead, they would function as a separate completion record, with a player's total number of Mythics displayed on their Xbox profile alongside existing Achievement statistics.

TrueAchievements also reports that the system will work retroactively across games with Achievement support. If that remains part of the final implementation, players who have already completed qualifying base lists would receive Mythic credit rather than having to complete those games again.

TrueAchievements also reports that games with an earned Mythic will receive a green star, laurel, and border around their artwork, adding another layer of recognition alongside Xbox's existing 100% completion highlight.

The reported system would be broadly comparable to PlayStation's Platinum Trophy by giving players a separate reward for completing a game's core Achievement list.

Xbox already tracks individual Achievements, Gamerscore, and completed games, but it does not currently award a separate Mythic-style reward for finishing a game's original Achievement list. The reported system would add that distinction while tracking a player's Mythic total separately from Gamerscore.

Microsoft has not publicly identified Mythic Achievements as its version of the Platinum Trophy or confirmed the reported base-game requirements, retroactive support, profile counter, or final presentation.

TrueAchievements says its source expects Mythic Achievements to launch soon, while the outlet itself speculates that they could begin appearing before the end of September, potentially through Xbox Insiders first. Microsoft has not announced Mythic Achievements or confirmed when the system will become available.
