Satthew Reportedly Set to Join Shopify Rebellion as Head Coach

Shopify Rebellion is reportedly set to appoint Matthew "Satthew" Ackermann as head coach of its new Rocket League project, reuniting him with Daniel "Daniel" Piecenski and Massimo "Atomic" Franceschi.

Sheep Esports reports that Satthew is expected to follow Daniel and Atomic from NRG to Shopify Rebellion, where the pair are already reported to be forming a new roster with Jason "Firstkiller" Corral. The organization has not announced Satthew, Daniel, or Atomic, so all three moves remain unconfirmed.

The reported move would continue Satthew's long-running partnership with Daniel and Atomic rather than sending the coach in a different direction after NRG's roster split.

Satthew previously coached the pair together at G2 Esports before continuing with them at NRG. Their biggest result came at the 2025 RLCS World Championship, where NRG's lineup of Daniel, Atomic, BeastMode, and Satthew defeated Team Falcons 4-1 in the grand final to win the title. NRG's own championship recap confirms the roster and result.

Sheep Esports reports that Satthew has coached Daniel and Atomic as a duo for three years and has worked with Atomic for four. The outlet says keeping that relationship intact is now part of Shopify Rebellion's planned rebuild.

Satthew's reported appointment follows an earlier Sheep Esports report that Daniel and Atomic had chosen Shopify Rebellion for 2027 after leaving NRG, with both players prioritizing the opportunity to team with Firstkiller.

That would create a projected trio of Firstkiller, Daniel, and Atomic with Satthew behind them. The earlier report said Logan "Lj" Wilt was expected to enter free agency as part of the changes.

Shopify Rebellion's official team page has not yet been updated to reflect those moves. It still lists Firstkiller and Lj as players, with Jos "ViolentPanda" van Meurs as head coach.

The coaching position is one area where the latest reporting changes the picture from earlier in the offseason.

When Daniel and Atomic were first linked with Shopify Rebellion, Sheep Esports reported that ViolentPanda was expected to remain as coach. Its newer report now says Satthew is set to take that position instead, with ViolentPanda expected to leave the project.

That would make Shopify Rebellion the third organization Satthew has coached after G2 and NRG, while allowing Daniel and Atomic to enter their new roster with the coach who already guided them to an RLCS world championship.

Shopify Rebellion has yet to announce any of the reported additions. Until it does, Satthew's appointment and the Daniel-Atomic move should be treated as expected offseason transactions rather than completed signings.
