Why Was Asmongold Banned on Twitch?

Asmongold's Zackrawrr channel was suspended by Twitch after comments from an August 3 livestream spread across social media. While reacting to a video about Moroccan migrants entering Ceuta, he argued that people crossing the border should be shot, including women and children.

The ban followed several days of criticism from viewers and other creators. Asmongold later said the suspension would last two weeks and that he planned to appeal it. Twitch has not publicly confirmed those remarks as the official reason for the penalty.

During the August 3 stream, Asmongold discussed migrants crossing into Ceuta from Morocco while watching a video from creator Nick Shirley. He called for lethal force at the border. He also used dehumanizing language while talking about the migrants and describing how they were crossing.

Clips from the broadcast quickly moved beyond his own audience and drew wider criticism. Hasan Piker was among the creators who condemned the comments, while others argued over whether Twitch should intervene. Zackrawrr later went offline with a notice saying the channel had violated Twitch's Community Guidelines.

The comments and suspension happened close together, but Twitch has not issued a statement directly connecting them. Reports have therefore treated the August 3 remarks as the likely trigger rather than a confirmed explanation from Twitch.

Asmongold later confirmed that Zackrawrr had received a two-week suspension and said he intended to appeal for a shorter punishment. Twitch normally gives enforcement details to the account holder instead of publishing the full reason or suspension length. His Twitch channel remained unavailable after the punishment was issued.

Zackrawrr was also suspended for one week in April 2026 after another controversial broadcast, and Asmongold disputed that earlier action. The August punishment is longer, although Twitch has not publicly said whether it treated the two cases as related violations or issued a separate penalty.

Losing access therefore stopped his normal Twitch streams rather than removing an unused backup channel. During his April suspension, he was still able to broadcast on Kick while Zackrawrr was unavailable.

After the suspension, Asmongold said he would challenge the two-week length and continued defending the wider position behind his comments. He argued that countries should be able to stop people crossing their borders and did not fully withdraw his support for using force in that situation.

Hasan Piker later called for bans from Twitch and YouTube, while Tectone defended Asmongold and said the remarks had been misunderstood. Those reactions kept the argument going even after Zackrawrr had already received its punishment.

As of August 14, Twitch has not published an explanation for the suspension or confirmed whether Asmongold's appeal changed its length. The two-week penalty remains the duration Asmongold described, so his return depends on the suspension ending or Twitch reducing it through the appeal process.
