BeamNG.drive PS5 Pro Footage Shows Split-Screen and Heavy-Load Limits
New BeamNG.drive PS5 Pro footage shows local split-screen and smooth everyday driving while revealing performance drops when large numbers of vehicles are simulated simultaneously.
BeamNG.drive has received an extended showing on PS5 Pro ahead of its October 19 launch, with early footage demonstrating the console interface, local split-screen, and how the game's demanding vehicle simulation behaves when pushed with large numbers of cars.
YouTuber MuYe tested a pre-release PS5 Pro build, with the game appearing to run smoothly during more typical driving scenarios, including split-screen play. The footage also exposes a familiar BeamNG.drive limitation, with performance dropping once substantially more vehicles are spawned and simulated at the same time.
Split-screen brings local multiplayer to the console version

The PS5 release supports up to four players offline, giving the console version a local multiplayer option alongside its free-roam driving, scenarios, and time trials. Sony's store listing also confirms DualSense vibration and trigger effects.
MuYe's footage provides an early look at that multiplayer setup running on PS5 Pro. The game continues handling its soft-body vehicle simulation while displaying separate player views, although the footage should not be treated as a final technical benchmark for every possible scenario.
The PlayStation release is still classed as Early Access. BeamNG says development will continue after launch, with the console version evolving alongside the game rather than arriving as a finished 1.0 release.
PS5 Pro uses PSSR while the base PS5 gets FSR 3

The stronger hardware also gets its own rendering support. BeamNG's PS5 launch material confirms PSSR upscaling for PS5 Pro, while the standard PS5 version will use AMD FSR 3. Exact resolution and frame-rate targets for the different modes have not been publicly detailed.
That leaves MuYe's video as an early indication of real-world PS5 Pro performance rather than a substitute for final specifications. Normal driving and split-screen appear substantially more stable than intentionally extreme situations where many vehicles are added at once.
The console port arrives after a substantial period of optimization work on the game itself. BeamNG's Version 0.39 update in July included lower memory use, rendering improvements, a new Direct3D 12 renderer, and other performance work alongside its major graphics overhaul.
Mods and VR will not be available at launch
The PS5 version will still be missing two features available on PC. BeamNG has confirmed that neither mods nor VR will be supported when the console edition launches on October 19. The studio wants greater feature parity between platforms over time, but it has not promised when or whether specific missing features will arrive.
Mod support is therefore still being explored rather than confirmed for a later update. BeamNG has also said PC players can expect Version 0.40 around the PS5 launch date, tying the console debut to the game's next major PC update.
BeamNG.drive releases for PS5 on October 19, marking the vehicle simulator's first official console launch after more than a decade on PC.
