Halo: Campaign Evolved launch details revealed

July 23, 2026·3 min read
Halo Studios has revealed the launch details for Halo: Campaign Evolved, including its release date, global launch times, preload rules and minimum PC specs. The remake of Halo: Combat Evolved launches on July 28, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam.

Players who buy the Premium Edition can start earlier through Early Access on July 23. The release is timed globally, so players will not be waiting for separate midnight launches in each region.

Global Launch Starts At The Same Time

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches worldwide on July 28 at 8 AM PDT. That translates to 11 AM EDT in New York, 4 PM BST in London, 5 PM CEST in Berlin and 8:30 PM IST in New Delhi.

In some Asia-Pacific regions, the launch falls on July 29. Tokyo gets the launch at midnight on July 29, while Sydney gets it at 1 AM AEST on July 29.

Preloading Depends On Platform

Preloading is being handled by platform. Digital players on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox app on PC can preload ahead of launch, giving them time to install the game before access opens.

Steam players have a different setup for Early Access. Premium and Collector’s Edition owners on Steam can download the game when Early Access begins, rather than fully preloading it earlier.

Players with slower connections should plan ahead. Console download sizes have been listed at around 70 GB, while PC requirements call for 100 GB of SSD storage.

PC Specs Start At 16 GB RAM

The minimum PC requirements are higher than many players may expect for a remake of a 2001 game. Halo: Campaign Evolved needs Windows 10 22H2 64-bit or Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM and 100 GB of SSD space.

For the minimum CPU, players need an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-10700K. The minimum GPU list includes an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580, with 8 GB of VRAM.

Microsoft Account Is Required

Halo: Campaign Evolved requires a Microsoft account and Xbox gamertag, even on Steam and PlayStation 5. That account is used for campaign progress, collectibles, Skulls, customization and cross-platform co-op features.

Steam players will also need to link their Steam account to a Microsoft account the first time they play. That allows friends lists and cross-platform co-op invites to work across Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

New Campaign Content Is Included

Halo: Campaign Evolved rebuilds the original Halo campaign in Unreal Engine 5 while adding new content and modern features. The release includes Operation: METEORITE, a new three-mission campaign set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.

The game also supports two-player split-screen co-op on consoles and four-player online co-op across platforms. With launch details now confirmed, players can prepare for the return to Alpha Halo before release week.
